What Makes you Unsubscribe??
This is a topic that is sometimes over looked in the blogosphere. While we are so worried about GETTING subscribers, we might sometimes forget about LOSING subscribers. If you think about it, a subscriber not lost is one that you don’t have to re-gain. If you’re not losing readers, you’re already ahead of the game.
So then the simple question arises what could make ME unsubscribe someone’s blog? Some of these can possibly be considered common knowledge, but I think this is still a point worth re-iterating.
Lack of Content
An oldie but a goodie. If you can’t post a LOT, at least be consistent. Nothing new here.
BOOOOORING
If your reader is going to fall asleep while reading your posts, he might accidentally hit the un-subscribe button. Or even on purpose!! There’s nothing wrong with writing about what you’re up to, but you best make sure that it is something worth telling people.
If you just returned from an epic car chase trying to evade the mafia who had a price on your head, I would strongly advise you post about it. (And hire a bodyguard)
If however, you just finished watching the grass grow - keep it to yourself.
Poor Blog Design
If I can’t easily navigate your blog, I’m going to push delete. If making your own custom template isn’t your strong point, I say use an available theme in the mean time.
The theme I use was free, and it does the trick. Eventually I will customize it, but until I’m proficient enough to do that, I’m sticking with what works.
You Don’t Visit My Blog
Fine if you’re John Chow, and have 45,000 subscribers, you can’t be expected to check out each and every person that posts on your blog. But if you’re an up and comer, until you gain such a strong following, you need to give in order to receive.
In my case, if you don’t visit my blog, but at least have some interesting content or post regularly, I’ll probably keep on your RSS. But if you’re putting me to sleep, don’t post often enough, AND don’t return the favour of a comment here and there? Things aren’t looking good.
A few things to think about there - thats just a bit of insight into why I unsubscribe - everyones different, but at least you know what makes me tick!!

One of the main reasons to unsubscribe is pop up ads and too many ads at times.
Totally!! Pop ups are a definite no no in this day and age!!
Good stuff here. I can’t say I wouldn’t visit a blog because of a terrible design, but if I can’t read it, I’d stop going. Luckily, that’s why, if I like a blog, I subscribe to the feed, so I can just read without having to see it all the time.
Good point indeed!!! OnePoke.com is going to have a full rss reader, so that it will do the same thing.
By the way, you asked me why I had two ways for people to subscribe to comments on my blog, but you have the same thing here. lol
I’ve only got the RSS subscription - at least thats what I thought lol!!
I cant say I really ever unsubscribe, but pretty much the only reason I would if they said something offensive that I didnt agree with.
In regards to the things you have mentioned - these are the things that would stop me from subscribing in the first place
True enough - it’s one thing to be kinda out there, but another to be just plain offensive
The last one suits me down to a tee. If I visit a blog and leave a comment several times but never get a response from that blogger then I don’t care how big they are I will unsubscribe from them. I don’t think that there is a blogger alive who is that good that they can live without fear of having someone unsubscribe. The problem is they have so many losing one here or there doesn’t pose a problem for them. No matter, they may still lose the Sire!!! LOL
hahaha well said - I know I will always try to respond to comments if they are relevant - its just common courtesy!
nice post, is it me or everyone but this picture http://blog.power-maxx.com/wp-content/themes/AutosCraze/images/posts/demo-iamge2.gif is always the picture for the most recent post?
yea - I need to change that up lol

Thanks I will certainly let you know - I’m going to make a post about my blog design - I want to see if this is an issue for others!!
Arfan its his passion for cars and he meant indirectly that he is the next John Chow..
Arun you know what I’m talking about hehehe!!! It was in fact John Chow’s old design that inspired me to find this one!! And welcome to my blog I’ll check yours out shortly!!
Certainly not an issue for me. I actually have a car or two on some of my blogs.
Cheers to that!!
