Want to Advertise on My Blog?? How to Price your Ads
So I’m sure you have all been DYING to put your ads on my blog - FINALLY your day has come!!!
I finally threw together my advertising positioning and rates and you can find them at the following link: click here.
I based the pricing by comparing the amount of traffic that I got, to the amount of traffic my favourite blog, John Chow dot Com got. I used the percentage of unique visitors to compare to John Chows, and used the same percentage on the current prices he charges for particular ad spots.
As you can see, I didn’t put many ads up to start. Just the ones that I had before on the right side bar, as well as a new “in post” ad space that has been created.
This means that the blog will not be cluttered up with ads, but I will still be able to work towards monetizing my blog further. I am happy to announce that I’ve already received a few emails regarding advertising, and I will be making a post about this tomorrow!
I will be adjusting my ad pricing on a monthly basis as the traffic grows using the same calculation process as I mentioned earlier.
This can be used as a quick tutorial for other bloggers that are trying to decide how they should price and where they should place their ads.
As a quick re-cap, simply check out a high traffic blog to see what they charge for ad spots. Divide your unique visitors by their stated unique visitors to arrive at a percentage. Then apply that percentage to the posted ad rates for comparable ad spots that you are thinking of using, and VOILA!! You’ve fairly accurately priced the ad space on your blog!
Since mine is a new blog, my price per ad is very low, but it is great for advertisers that want to take advantage of low prices on a fast growing blog. As always, it would be better for an advertiser to buy at the beginning of the month to take advantage of the newly updated rates, as the blog will be growing throughout the month, with more and more visitors daily.
Feel free to contact me if you’re interested in advertising, and I hope this quick semi-tutorial helped some of you guys that were facing the same dilemma I was!
