I just signed up. Well the site is good, but i would suggest you could have used some other font for the text? What say?

It’s actually a variation of arial, because it is a softer - I will see how a larger font looks!

Another thing i noticed is when you click on an advert, it opens in the same page, it should open in a new window so the user does not direct away from OnePoke.

thanks for the heads up - yea we are trying to figure out a way around that, because google doesn’t want us to modify the code at all, and we don’t want to violate their terms of service

Maybe we can figure out a way to do this - or at least put small text telling the user to right click and open in a new window to view the ad

You should have used a good color palette and the image ads banner is irritating.

The idea about the website too is not that good. You require accounts of users on other social networking website. That isn’t a good idea.

As a person who have knowledge in database, the website owner can access the data on the database.

How about creating a widget that users could add on their social network’s profile and use that to manage users account through OnePoke.com? :)

I really thought OnePoke is a new social network. But OnePoke.com is a social network aggregator. :(

yes indeed this is what onepoke is all about - a commonly discussed fact is that there are too many social networks, and there is a definite need to be able to manage them all from one location - i have seen this topic discussed in many locations, and it is certainly something that is going to become popular as web 2.0 takes over

our databases are encrypted, and no one is able to access the data other than the website itself - even if we were able to access that data, there would be no point as we want to keep users, and not take over their accounts

what do you think a better colour scheme would be?? we can include your thoughts into our future development - our goal was to have a simple layout, simple colour scheme etc - if the colour scheme is something that should be changed, we will be certainly including that as one of the things to revise during the beta stage

also, the site is going to be setup to have user definable templates, so if you don’t like the default template, the user will be able to change it to one they like better

the ads themselves are necessary, as that is the only source of revenue for a site like this - what would you suggest to put into it’s place?

if you take the website plenty of fish, as an example, where the layout is poorly designed, but it still manages to be successful

i am looking forward to hearing your comments, as it will be critiques like this that will help shape the future of the website! thanks for your input!!

PS - its not just social networks that are included in OnePoke.com!

We include dating websites, email, and blog rss feeds.

Even if you have just a social networking account, and a few blog subscriptions, it is useful.

Heck, even with just an email address or two - you can check them from anywhere in the world without having to log in through your webmail client!

Wow.. great idea for a site- and a catchy name too.

I bet this will take off as soon as the word gets out. Maybe I’ll have to blog about it after I get a chance to signup and review it.

At first glance it doesn’t look like you’ve incorporated Twitter at all. It’s taking the blogosphere by a storm so I hope that gets tied in to the site at some point!

Thanks John!! AND Twitter IS actually incorporated!! I really have to update the welcome graphic on the main page to highlight some of the other things that are on there.

It is one of the surprise inclusions in the Beta - Like you said, it is a fast growing social network, and I decided that I had to include it in the launch.

It was more of a thought for my fellow bloggers more than anything!

Let me know what you think when you get around to checking it out! Comments and critiques are more than welcome as they are what will help us improve in the long run! :)

Well, it will not accept my email address, says it checked it and it’s not valid.

I tried it again and it worked, I think a little more color might be good in the design. I like the my blogs feature. There are only three social sites available to me in the drop down, will there be more later?

Yes JR there will be! we are adding myspace, hi5, linked in, and orkut as the ones we will launch publicly with - after that time, we will be constantly adding more of each respective site, with more support, more types of sites etc

in terms of the design, as I mentioned to Arfan, our web guy hasn’t had a crack at the design yet, but be sure he will jazz it up!!

we still want to keep the design simple, and quick and easy to use, so that it is very effective

I find that sometimes “too pretty” gets the situation to be cluttered etc

But we will be offering a template system, so that the user can actually change the way the site appears, so if they prefer simple, they can have simple, or if they prefer complex - they can have that too!! :)

Just got an account checked it out, pretty neat concept and idea, and features like checking the BLOG RSS feeds, ( that did not work for me when i tried adding some blogs) the design does need some work I have to admit that but overall on a great start. Let me know if you need help with anything cheers!

Thanks Arfan!! The blog reader you actually have to be VERY specific with the feed URL

You have to basically copy and paste the url of the feed from the blog page, and put it into the URL space

for my blog, it would be http://blog.power-maxx.com/feed - that is exactly what you would have to paste to get it to accept - it is not as sophisticated as google reader where you can just put in the blog address, and it will figure out the rest

not YET anyways! :)

the design is fairly simple right now yes, but we have a web guy that is going to get a crack at it within a week or two once he finishes with some other projects.

We will be adding features, frills and amenities throughout the beta stage as you might imagine

One thing I would appreciate is if you signed up to the forum, and did a post or two, just to test if that works ok

if you could use the same user name and password as you used for your account that would be great, as we are trying to integrate an auto-login feature for the forums!! :) thanks a lot!!
