February $200 Commenting Contest and First News Article About OnePoke.com!
Alright guys, this is a two for one post today!! First, I am announcing Februaries contest - the format will again be a posting contest, just like the first one was. I found much greater reader participation, which is what I really want to have on this blog.
Prize structure will vary a bit from previous contests, and there is more up for grabs!!!
First prize: $100 cash
Second prize: $50 cash
Third prize: $25 cash
Fourth prize: PNY 4gb USB Drive
Fifth prize: Blog review
Sixth prize: Blog review
Contest will end Feb 27th at 11:59 PM Eastern time, at which point I will be taking a screenshot of the top commentators, and any comments thereafter will not be included in this months contest.
Rules are simple, only relevant comments will count, any irrelevant comments will be deleted!
Now for the second part of todays post, I would like to announce the first News Article about OnePoke.com! In reality, this isn’t really a news article, but a guest post done by myself on another blog. The post was done at Linker’s Blog, and you can read the post at this link! I want to thank Donny at Linker’s Blog for the opportunity to write a guest post about OnePoke.com, a revolution in social networking.
We have received an overwhelming amount of positive feedback on the concept, and a lot more signups than we were expecting in the beta phase! Many have however, stated that they are waiting until we finish our beta testing before signing up - which is understandable - but we do appreciate all the comments that our best testers have been sending us.
Fortunately, we have been experiencing no major problems in the operation of the site! There are simply a few programming glitches that we need to iron out, but nothing that is affecting the functionality of the site as a whole.
We are working hard to finish the beta stage by the end of February, and we expect to be finished even sooner than that, so as to welcome many new members that are waiting to get in after the beta is done.
For those that haven’t already checked it out, you can visit the site at www.onepoke.com, or www.onepoke.com/beta.

Good competition once again Taris. I think you need to be a bit more strict this time around. Last time during the commenting contest i saw that there was more of spamming then commenting. Some one came and posted around 100 comments in a day and i was quite surprised you did not delete them. Hence i too adopted the same strategy
Anyways i hope the contest this time is more fun then last time, because i enjoyed the competition till the time it was healthy, but then it turned into spammy stuff and it was not much fun then, i hope you get my point and i am sure you know what i am talking about.
About OnePoke i thought, why not ask JohnChow for a guest post?
The possibility of JC doing a guest post is pretty remote if you ask me. I reckon he doesn’t need additional publicity.
Yan
yea - I will probably have to settle for a paid review
I don’t get it. What’s the contest all about? Top commentator? I’m sorry I guess I missed the earlier contest of yours.
Yan
Thats exactly right Yan!
Oh, it’d then be better if you pick the winner using random.org. Otherwise, spamming is inevitable.
Yan
H mmmm thats an idea
I might revise the contest then in that case
How would you use random.org to pick a winner though?? I can’t seem to see a funciton to do that with
That would not be a top commentator contest then, it will be more of a lucky draw. Taris it would be best for you to be stern and deleted casual chatty comments.
Just list all the email addresses of the top 10 commentators here and randomize them….
Yan
But then would it not be a competition, that would be a more of a luck by chance.
seems like a fun contest! hopefully it does not get messed up with spammers making it unfair for us other readers! good luck to all!
I always delete any comments that are not relevant to the conversation, so no worries there
Who was become the winner ?
Ya what happened to the contest? No word about it?
Yea I havent gotten around to posting about that yet
You’re the only one thats getting a prize because you’re the only one that really did any posting
I guess people just didn’t want the money bad enough lol
Ya Taris, i was really shocked by this times contest. There was hardly any turn around. And i was just being normal as i usual am at your blog. Been regular since the day i discovered it.
Ill be honest I was very disappointed in this contests turn out
Taris I would suggest holding another type of contest. You spend around $200 on this contest, why not give a Flip Mino away. It costs around that much and have a point structure for the tasks done. I think this should give you the max exposure.
