Christmas Tree Chopping 2008
Hey guys!! Today I went out Christmas tree shopping with the family! We go to a local tree farm every year, trudge through the snow, and pick out the perfect tree (usually). I wanted to share some more Christmas cheer, so here are the pics, and I will post a comment to go along with each - enjoy!! Click on any image for a larger version.
Here we are, arriving at the Horton Tree Farm - great trees and great prices!!
Here we are starting the long walk up the hill into the tree farm.

A few other tree choppers ahead of us as we’re walking up the hill.
Here’s my dog Sasha doing a funny dance in the snow - I managed to get her attention for the shot.
This is the real out doors people!!
Here’s my Dad and Sister posing for a shot with the dog - mom’s there walking ahead of us.
Beware its the Sasquatch!!
Here’s a nice shot of the sun breaking through the clouds for a bit!
Another nice nature shot
This tractor takes you back to the entrance if you’re too lazy to drag your tree back yourself.
Here’s my sister posing with the Fur Bag again.
We’re getting much deeper into the forest now.
And here we have candidate number one!!!
AND DEEPER WE GO!!! Worried about that sasquatch attacking at any moment.
Here’s candidate number TWO - NOW THE CHOICE IS MORE DIFFICULT!!!
An “ARTISTIC” shot lol
So we decided to go with candidate number ONE - and to our surprise and fortune, the sasquatch kindly helped us cut down the tree we chose.
An obligatory cute dog picture
Heres a close up of the saw at work
My sister with our dog standing alert!!
On the way back, I took a couple of panaramic shots - please click on them to see the full sized versions, as these small ones are kinda crappy looking lol
AND THERE IT IS - our very exciting CHristmas tree chopping experience. I will be sure to post pictures of the pre-and post decorated tree in our home! Until then - happy blogging!!

Some awesome pictures you have added. Which camera have you used to click these?
it’s an olympus 1030 SW - shock proof/waterproof to 10 meters/freeze proof/crush proof with 10 megapixels - best camera ever!! hehehe
Waterproof is when its not turned on right? Olymus are pretty good with these things.
Water proof is on OR off!! I have taken many an underwater video with this camera!!
Wooooow. Thats cool because i checkout the Olympus M850W ( i hope thats right) and the sales guy told me its water proof till its switched off and i was like bah!
Yea thats no good hehehe - the 1030 is great for everything - look into it for sure!
How much does it cost?
I think mine was 399 CDN?? Yea that sounds about right - that was back in june though price might have gone down!!
Add an affiliate link saying pictures taken with the Olympus 1030 SW. Great to have a testimonial from an actual user.
True - i gotta contact olympus make some money offa this deal lol!!
Or use Amazon. As you have visited my blog, you see I use my own keyword links for Amazon products. Have to do it manually, but anything worth doing… Plus, I have a system now and only takes about 2 minutes per word/product.
How good is amazon doing? I heard they are better off then ebay.
Freeze and crush proof, does seem hardy. 10 megs is awesome for such a outdoorsy camera. Tech is always funny because you can reflect when a camera with 1 meg was something.
Nowadays phones come with 8 megapixel. The Samsung Innov8 is the first of its kind.
Oh my god, I LOVE the doggie shoes and sweater, that is adorable!
haha thanks - yea sasha definitely gets the attention !!
Maybe dog shoes would be good for Hot Deals!
Or even whole dog ensembles.
That is only if you have a dog. Dog food is hot moving stuff.
Your right the dog does have shoes! Glad you pointed that out.
If it didn’t it would freeze in the snow and would not be able to walk.
LOL, first thing that caught my eye- Category: Ramblings. I love it.
I didn’t know you cut Christmas trees so high up on the trunk. Interesting. Wish I knew that back in the day when we use to go out into the country, jump a fence, and lay down with a saw to cut as close to ground as we could. Now I feel like a hick, could have gotten a bigger tree and cut from arm/eye level. Now I am citified and have a plastic tree from a box.
Usually you would do that, but they let you do this at that tree farm, as after a certain point, the tree is too huge anyway, and most people wouldn’t cut it.
This way, people can still use the lower boughs for decoration around their home as well, so the rest of the tree is still useful
What is in the upper portions of the barn? It is awfully tall, was wondering if it had multiple lofts.
Imagine the needles could be used for potpourri.
Yikes. That would be scary.
Looking at your pics again, miss having snow and overcast. In Oklahoma we just had sleet over Christmas. Christmas Day it was like 75 degrees, where two days before it was in the teens. Too warm for the season.
Damn thats a bummer
I didn’t know Oklahama was so hot. You should have thought of heading north wards for Christmas.
Still the present were great this year. Quantity over quality, but that is ok. That’s my preference.
I prefer quality though. To each its own.
Wanted to be home for Christmas. Might travel to Wisconsin this winter to get some snow and snowmobiling in though.
I thought snow is quite irritating. I have heard rants on many blogs about snow really putting them off. Nothing beats cool weather, not too hot, neither extremely cold.
Google Adsense just brought up Oklahoma Tree Farms, didn’t know we had tree farms. Maybe I need to see if I can cut at arm/eye height like the Canadian farm.
When i first read i thought why would google buy it :p
Miss the smell of a real Christmas tree. May have to go real next year, even if it is a Charlie Brown tree.
That dog is so cute. He seems to be confused or maybe frozen.
Spent some years in Milwaukee and miss a good winter. Keep coming back to these pics of snow and trees. A bitter-sweet reminder.
Although around Milwaukee not so many trees, further north around Green Bay and the Wisconsin Dells.
Sounds like a valley of sorts.
I have never been a fan of snow. Fear snow bite.
The tractor has front snow tires, which makes since. I have only seen straight line tires on tractor fronts.
Only front snow tires are enough for a tractor due to the way it is constructed. It is a FWD i guess.
