Blog Ye, Blog Ye! Summer Approaches!
Alright - so I’ll admit, summer isn’t QUITE upon us yet - heck even spring isn’t here, but the recent warm spells we’ve been having here in Toronto really got me thinking about summer.
I absolutely cannot wait to put the summer tires and wheels back on, cruise with the windows down, wind in the car. Then of course theres time at the beach, enjoying the sun, hitting up some trails on my mountain bike, pulling out the driver on the 1st tee at the golf course…
I always said that I love winter - and really, I still do. Who doesn’t love a fresh snowfall, when the whole world is white and sparkling! I love a good night storm, where the snow causes the light from streetlamps to reflect off of the snowflakes, making the night brighter than would ever be possible.
But who am I kidding - you can only sit INSIDE and look OUT for so long, before you start going stir crazy lol!!
I know that lately since I’ve been sitting infront of the computer working on OnePoke.com, I’ve definitely been feeling the winter blues.
The other day, I decided to poll my twitter followers and find out what THEY were most looking forward to for the summer. Most of the responses were very enthusiastic about summer coming, aside from a handful from Australia, who experience summer all year round!
Anyways, here’s what you guys had to say!

Parents: What do you Think About Children’s Vaccines?
There is a lot of controversy surrounding vaccinating children. There seems to be a growing number of parents who choose not to get their kids vaccinated, partially due to the worry that they may be linked to autism and supposedly also due to other possible issues.
Do people actually still believe that there is a link between vaccinations (MMR or otherwise) and autism? According to everything I’ve read, there have been no studies to actually provide a real link between the two. The original study that was released 10 years ago that supposedly proved a link was so biased that it was discredited and a retraction was printed, but it seems like the damage was done.
Why do people still think there is a link when nothing seems to be proven?
I’ve seen this topic come up in the news a lot lately, and I know that personally I was always vaccinated, and will certainly vaccinate my kids!! This is a bit more serious topic than normal, but an important one and food for thought at the very least.
Let’s hear what you guys all think!!

Twitter Question of the Day! What Are YOU Doing on Valentines?
As Saturday fast approaches, I thought to myself, what will I be doing. Probably some work, see how the weather is - nothing too special.
For MOST people, however, Saturday is VALENTINES DAY! The day you spend with your special someone, showing them how much you care about them through some sort of plan or idea. As some of you might know, I’m recently single, and any plans I might have went out the window!
Don’t worry about me though - I’m a big boy - so no worries
But I thought to myself, since I’m not doing anything on Valentines, what are my fellow Twitter followers doing? This was my second ever Twitter question of the day, and I received a much larger response this time around!
Responses were all across the map, and I must say, I’m really starting to enjoy Twitter. Throw a simple question out there, and you’ve instantly got some interesting responses. Without further a due, here are the Tweets that I received back!

Question of the Day: Did you Ever Get a Date from Twitter?
So today, I decided to do my first “Question of the Day” on Twitter!! As I was browsing peoples feeds, and figuring out the ins and outs of Twitter, I noticed that there were quite a few ladies on the site!
Some of them I’d see and go to myself “How YOU doin ;)” lol - and it got me thinking. For all the various uses of twitter, I wonder if anyone has ever scored a DATE from twitter!!
You figure, with thousands, or likely HUNDREDS of thousands of members, someone must have asked someone else out. Heck, I was even tempted to try my luck - after all - what is there to lose lol!!!
So I posed the question to my followers, and here is what they came back with. I am also curious to hear what you guys have to say about the topic! Please let me know!!
Although I didn’t receive a huge number of responses, I am very happy as it is my first question of the day, and I am still building my follower base!
Abigiggles1 I personally haven’t but I did instigate a date for a friend via twitter.
- danyell76 @OnePoke since joining Twitter on Monday I have not gone out with anyone I have met on here lol
- TheFuckingQueen @OnePoke propositioned - ALL THE TIME, gotten a date - never

Going Down to One Post Per Day
Hey guys!! Some of you may have noticed that recently, I’ve been only doing one post per day. I decided to make this change due to the fact that I’m simply way too busy with OnePoke.com to be able to keep up 2 posts per day.
One post per day is certainly more manageable for me. Another factor in making this decision was the fact that my blog doesn’t get the kind of traffic to WARRANT 2 posts per day. I feel that by doing 2 posts per day on a small amount of traffic, many people might be missing out on some useful, and interesting posts as they find out about my blog.
With the new posting frequency, every topic will get twice as much exposure on the main page as before, which will hopefully work to my benefit as some of my more useful posts are published.
Let me know what you think about this change, as I think it will be for the better, but I still want to hear what you guys have to say. With that said, back to working on OnePoke.com!! Hopefully it will be ready for public beta today!
Hope to do Business with You!!
I categorized that under “make money online” only because I don’t have a category called how to NOT make money online! Do you guys ever receive those emails that say “Hope to do business with you” in the title?
They’re always some sort of spam - I’ve never received something like this that WASN’T spam in all honesty!! I ask myself, who actually responds to these or goes to the links that they provide? Do you?? I know I don’t.
If anything, I think this type of email reduces the credibility of a company or website, especially if it is written in poor english. As soon as I see that the email is trash, I just hit delete.
This is a bit of a rambling, as I get at least 10 of these bloody emails a day. Sometimes I get excited thinking I’m going to be developing a new business connection, only to be disappointed yet again.
This post is dedicated to you, “Hope to do business with you” man. I, on the contrary, do NOT hope to do business with you!!
So I’m curious - do you guys receive these types of emails? If not, what kind of stuff manages to sneak through YOUR spam filter???
Does My Blog Design Confuse You??
Since the inception of my blog, some people have mentioned to me that perhaps the design of my blog is actually keeping readers from subscribing to my blog.
It is based on an auto theme - that’s pretty obvious. The argument is that people might get confused, thinking it is in fact a car blog, despite the fact that cars are a very small part of what I write about.
I thought that this would be irrelevant, as all someone has to do is check out the first post or two of my blog to figure out that there is more to my blog than just cars. This might not be the case, and as I’ve been told this a couple of times now, I figured I would ask you guys what you thought.
Is there any sort of confusion for you when reading my blog?? When you first came to my blog, were you deterred by the car theme??
Personally, I thought the car theme was more “me” than let’s say a plainer theme with just colours and styles. After all, John Chow used to have his supercar at the top of his blog. That was almost like his trademark.
Although he has since changed his blog design, I wonder if it ever affected his reader base, as to me at least, it certainly doesn’t seem like it!!! So let’s hear what you have to say people - I’m anxious to see the result!!
My 100th Post!! Great Success!!
