Scariest Moments You’ve Ever Witnessed…

Ever think back to something you’ve seen and thought to yourself, wow, that was frigging terrifying??

Here are some pics/vids of some really scary moments I came across - enjoy!!

INVISIBLE GODZILLA!!!

No not really! This is actually an implosion of a tanker due to not opening the vent on the top when cleaning out the car.  Because the vaccuum is so great, the air pressure causes the car to collapse inward on itself.  I’m not gonna lie, its amazing to watch this as to how fast it happens.  Wow.

The Book of Death

Once, there was a boy who loved to read. He read everything he could get his hands on, and loved going to his favorite book store. One day, the boy realized he had read everything the store had to offer. He confronted the owner, and asked him if he had anything the boy had never checked out. The owner said why, yes, I do, and pulled out a book called ?Death?. He gladly sold it to the boy at a discounted price of 50$.

However, he warned the boy, never to read the front page. Well, the boy returned to his house and read the book, and he was content. However, he always wondered, what could be on that front page, it was always in the back of his mind. One day, the temptation was too much for the boy, and he flipped to the very front of the book, and dropped the book in HORROR.

There, in bold print, was MSRP 7.99$

I’m BACK!!!

That’s right folks - after a lengthy hiatus I’m going to get back to posting on my blog.

I’m going to be doing it as more of a personal blog from here on in, with no real direction or particular topic that I’m going to blog about.  To update you guys, there have been a lot of developments with OnePoke.com behind the scenes, with many exciting things coming down the pipe!  I can’t really reveal the information at the current time, but it’s going to be a doozy!

Anyways - look forward to my future posts, as I will once again continue to bring you the best and most interesting things from the internet! :)

Sorry About the Lack of Updates!

Hey guys!! Just wanted to say sorry for the fact that I haven’t been updating with as much quality material as before.

This past night, we did an all nighter here at OnePoke.com to try to get the new layout done and functional by the end of the weekend!  As I’m sure you can imagine, starting up a significant website takes a lot of time and effort, and I just haven’t had time to update the blog as I normally would!

I will be hopefully able to add more posts next week, presuming that we get the layout done and launched.  Thanks again everyone for understanding!

New Twitter Background!

newbackSo today, I check my @ replies and get a message from my friend Jokezguy to check my DM’s on Twitter.  So I take a look and what do I find, a link to a new custom Twitter background he did for OnePoke!

Boy was I surprised!  Click on the image to the left here for a big version.  It looks great, and I cannot thank him enough!

So if you get a sec, follow Jokezguy - he will definitely come through for you when you need it!! :)

Changing Over to the OnePoke Blog

Hey guys!

Just wanted to let you all know that shortly, I will be migrating this blog over to the OnePoke server, and will subsequently be re-naming this the OnePoke blog.

The content will remain the same, and although the blog will receive a template change to better fit with the OnePoke layout, it will be the same great blog you guys have grown to know and love.

My partner will also start posting on here as well, so you will be receiving even more great content than before!

This change will most likely occur sometime during the week.  I will leave the current blog up to re-direct any users that might have missed this post. :)

USPS Buys $1.2 Million Home To Relocate Employee

So I says to Mable I says, I’m gonna work for the post office so I can finally afford that sweet 1.2 million dollar home I’ve always wanted!

Wait… what?

That’s exactly what I said when I read this article: http://www.cnn.com/2009/US/03/05/postal.service.relocation/index.html

So let me get this straight, not only did the guy already OWN a 1.2 million dollar home, but the post office bought it so he could move?  BOY am I in the wrong career!!

So I figured, this guy must be some kinda high up executive or something.  Makes sense right? Like how else can the guy afford this CASTLE.

NOPE - guys the former postmaster in Lexington, South Carolina.  How… the…. BLEEEP!!!

Hopson is now the customer service manager for the USPS branch in Carrollton, Texas.  That’s a quote right from the article.  So the guy isn’t even a high up.

DOES THE USPS REALLY PAY THAT WELL?? Does anyone know how this is possible?? I certainly don’t understand it in the slightest.

Anyways, for more information, check out the article.  Apparently the USPS is lowering their max home buyback value to $1 million.  ONLY 1 million now…. Wow.

I would love to hear you guys thoughts on the situation.  I’m filling out my application form right now!

HOLY Spam lately Batman!

I don’t know if its just me, but my blog has been getting spammed like CRAZY lately!!

Each time I log in theres like 10 spams - wow.  Am I the only one or what?? On a side note, sorry I wasn’t able to put a more meaningful post today - I was swamped with work and studying for my realestate exam!!

Cheers guys :)

For the Science Lovers: Huge gamma ray blast detected

I was browsing one of my favourite forums, and I came across this article! Pretty crazy to think of how big the universe is - enjoy! Original Link

WASHINGTON (AFP) – The US space agency’s Fermi telescope has detected a massive explosion in space which scientists say is the biggest gamma-ray burst ever detected, a report published Thursday in Science Express said.

The spectacular blast, which occurred in September in the Carina constellation, produced energies ranging from 3,000 to more than five billion times that of visible light, astrophysicists said.

“Visible light has an energy range of between two and three electron volts and these were in the millions to billions of electron volts,” astrophysicist Frank Reddy of US space agency NASA told AFP.

“If you think about it in terms of energy, X-rays are more energetic because they penetrate matter. These things don’t stop for anything — they just bore through and that’s why we can see them from enormous distances,” Reddy said.

A team led by Jochen Greiner of Germany’s Max Planck Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics determined that the huge gamma-ray burst occurred 12.2 billion light years away.

The sun is eight light minutes from Earth, and Pluto is 12 light hours away.

Taking into account the huge distance from earth of the burst, scientists worked out that the blast was stronger than 9,000 supernovae — powerful explosions that occur at the end of a star’s lifetime — and that the gas jets emitting the initial gamma rays moved at nearly the speed of light.

“This burst’s tremendous power and speed make it the most extreme recorded to date,” a statement issued by the US Department of Energy said.

Gamma-ray bursts are the universe’s most luminous explosions, which astronomers believe occur when massive stars run out of nuclear fuel and collapse.

Long bursts, which last more than two seconds, occur in massive stars that are undergoing collapse, while short bursts lasting less than two seconds occur in smaller stars.

In short gamma-ray bursts, stars simply explode and form supernovae, but in long bursts, the enormous bulk of the star leads its core to collapse and form a blackhole, into which the rest of the star falls.

As the star’s core collapses into the black hole, jets of material blast outward, boring through the collapsing star and continuing into space where they interact with gas previously shed by the star, generating bright afterglows that fade with time.
