So About that Mileage Test…

It kinda failed. In all honesty, I got kinda bored coasting around everywhere, and I wanted to drive my car lol.

BUT at the point that I stopped, I was sitting at around 25 MPG, and 200km per 1/4 of a tank. To me, this definitely proves my theory that a much greater mileage can be achieved by simply using the inertia of the vehicle to coast when possible.

I’ll probably give it another go in a little while, but until then, I want to enjoy my car - apparently I like driving too much!! :)

Question of the Day: Did you Ever Get a Date from Twitter?

So today, I decided to do my first “Question of the Day” on Twitter!! As I was browsing peoples feeds, and figuring out the ins and outs of Twitter, I noticed that there were quite a few ladies on the site!

Some of them I’d see and go to myself “How YOU doin ;)” lol - and it got me thinking. For all the various uses of twitter, I wonder if anyone has ever scored a DATE from twitter!!

You figure, with thousands, or likely HUNDREDS of thousands of members, someone must have asked someone else out. Heck, I was even tempted to try my luck - after all - what is there to lose lol!!!

So I posed the question to my followers, and here is what they came back with. I am also curious to hear what you guys have to say about the topic! Please let me know!! :)

Although I didn’t receive a huge number of responses, I am very happy as it is my first question of the day, and I am still building my follower base!

Abigiggles1 I personally haven’t but I did instigate a date for a friend via twitter.

  1. Danielle Shawdanyell76 @OnePoke since joining Twitter on Monday I have not gone out with anyone I have met on here lol

  2. Elizabeth IITheFuckingQueen @OnePoke propositioned - ALL THE TIME, gotten a date - never

Sushi On Bloor: A Review

pc130021Hey guys!! This is my very first review!! Not a paid review, just a review that I’m doing because I love the restaurant. So anyway, the restaurant is called Sushi on Bloor, and as I’m sure you guessed, it is a sushi restaurant!

Their menu consists of all the regular stuff you’d expect to see at a sushi restaurant, and the quality is off the charts!!! They say that if you find a restaurant, that instead of using the fake plastic grass looking thing as garnish, they use the real thing (which apparently comes from Japan) that you’ve found yourself a winner.

Sushi on Bloor is one such restaurant!! They actually use half and half, so I don’t know what you want to take away from that, but the fact that it is present at all works for me!! Every person gets free tea, and a bowl of miso soup to start.

This time around, I ordered my usual: Sashimi Bronze, which includes salmon, tuna, snapper and surf clam sashimi, spicy salmon roll, and rainbow roll.

Watches: Timeless Timepieces

tag-grand-carreraSo here’s a bit of culture and lifestyle for you guys. I saw a bit on TV about watches on the show 60 Minutes. Andy Rooney did a talk on how watches seem to have become such a huge thing in today’s society, and how a watch is no longer a time piece, but in fact an accessory and even a status symbol.

He asked his co-worker to bring in all the watches he had around his house, and was expecting 2 or 3 at most. He came back with 16 watches total, ranging from pocket watches (who uses those anymore??), to a variety of wristwatches of varying grade. Now don’t get me wrong - I would love to have a selection of watches to wear to different occasions - but 16???? WOW!!

I personally own 1 single watch - it’s a Casio - no nothing super expensive, but it has a classy design and I’ve recieved many compliments about this classy yet cost effective piece that I got for Christmas a couple of years back. This watch I’ve been able to either dress up, or dress down - it’s almost a jack of all trades if you ask me.

Feel Good Email of the Day

The other day, I checked my email to find a very nice email from a lady I will refer to as Kelly. Here’s what Kelly wrote:

Dear Taris,

I recently went through a bad breakup with my boyfriend of 3 years, and have been heartbroken ever since. I wasn’t able to eat much, and I barely slept, heck I was just a mess in general. Your article on “Looking at the Big Picture” really opened my eyes, and helped me begin to understand what is really important in life, and hopefully by taking what you’ve written from your own experiences, and applying them to my own life, I’ll be able to get on with my life. I’m looking forward to reading your future posts on the topic!!

Kelly, from Florida

I’m glad that people are able to benefit from what I’ve gone through, and that’s most certainly what I set out to do with my articles and future eBook. If anyone else has any comments they would like to put through, feel free to email me or post on the blog. They are always appreciated! For those of you that aren’t aware of what Kelly is talking about, check out my article on looking at the Big Picture here.

I won’t be posting the recipe on here out of respect for his intellectual property, but if the picture is enough to get your mouth watering, by all means check it out at Mike’s Blog at this link. I will be bringing you more appetizing creations from Mike’s Table in the weeks to come!

Looking at the Big Picture: A Life Changing Idea

Hello to my loyal readers! Today marks an important day in the life of this blog. Today is the day that I introduce you all to a few simple concepts that I used to not only change the way I look at my life, but how I live it as well.

In my “new life” philosophy, I came up with three general concepts, two of which stem from the first one. These ideas aren’t anything complicated, but they are something that I’ve found that a lot of people fail to see in their daily lives. By being able to realize these ideas and put them into practice, I’ve been able to completely change my way of life, and turn my life around by eliminating almost all of the negative influences that were bringing me down.

Anyways, enough of the preamble - I’m sure you’re all wondering what these three main principles are. I’m going to take this first post to simply list all three, and discuss them in detail later. The first and most important idea, as the title of the first installment states, is to “Always Look at the Big Picture.” The second idea is to “Always Do the Right Thing,” and the third is to “Never Forget Where You Came From.” This time around, I’m going to discuss looking at the big picture, as the other two ideas stem from this point.

Mosport 2008

Since this blog is brand new, I’ll be periodically updating it with my escapades from the past! One of the most memorable of which is my trip to Mosport International Speedway, in Bowmanville, Ontario, for the 2008 running of the American Lemans Series (ALMS).

I’ve been there on previous years, but we’ve always been rained out!! :( This year we got lucky, and aside from a slight drizzle on race day, it was all green lights for a great day of racing. My buddies and I made the trek for both Saturday and Sunday to get the most out of our weekend track pass.
