OFFICIAL: Top Gear Puts the Veyron on the Track
Today, November 23rd, 2008, will be the day that the famous Bugatti Veyron is put to the test of the British show Top Gear, to see how fast it can get around their track. For those of you that don’t know about Top Gear, it is an amazing mix of high horsepower cars, witty British humour, and arguably some of the most epic cinematography currently on TV.
Grand Designs presenter Kevin McCloud may strike you as the sort of person who, being wholesomely right on and as eco-minded as they come, wouldn’t get terribly excited about fast cars. But you’d be wrong. He has a passion for them, and once let slip that he quite fancied the idea of presenting a car programme himself. The next best thing, surely, is to appear in Top Gear’s Star in a Reasonably Priced Car, as he does tonight.
Also whizzing around the track will be James May, tackling his first-ever power test in the pleasantly brisk Pagani Zonda.
And for real speed nuts, there’s another first as the Stig finally gets to set a lap time in the most amazing-car-in-the-world Bugatti Veyron. Can it beat the current record holder, the absurdly named Gumpert Apollo?
I’ll be completely honest when I say its by far the show I look forward to watching the most every week. This episode is long awaited by many a Top Gear fan. Be sure to check out the episode if you’re in the UK, and if you’re not, you can download it from www.finalgear.com.
