As I was browsing one of my fellow bloggers sites, I came across an titled: “Why I Don’t Sleep: Blogging for Money isn’t rocket science.” While I really don’t believe that she doesn’t sleep, she does make some very valid points that I would like to expand upon. These ideas came from a panel of the world’s top bloggers, namely John Chow, Jeremy Schoemaker, Stephanie Agresta, and Neil Patel.

The first idea was that none of the 4 started their blogs off to be a money maker, and simply started them in hopes that others would have similar interests, and to encourage discussion. I agree and disagree with this idea. Of course, as others have mentioned before, to set out for the sole purpose of monetary gain is perhaps an unrealistic idea. It is my opinion that although money shouldn’t be the sole motivator in ones blog, it shouldn’t be left our either. If you’re going to try to build a community with similar interests as yours, you should still include appropriate advertising, such as Adsense, or affiliate advertising that might appeal to your target audience.

This way, you’re not slapping ads all over your site - cause face it - chances are no ones going to pay to be on your blog with little no to traffic anyways - but at least you are making the most of the traffic that you do get. In this day and age, where even a service such as Twitter is not immune to spam, ads are everywhere, you deserve your piece of the pie too, even if it is just a small piece. After all, your time and insight is still worth something isn’t it?

Hey everyone!! I recently wrote my first piece on the idea of “Looking at the Big Picture,” and how to use the concept to live a better life. It was an overwhelming success, especially considering how new my blog is, and thus I present to you part 2: a compelling argument as to why you should always do the right thing. This will most certainly be the shortest of any of my articles on the topic, but it is important nonetheless.

Always doing the right thing goes hand in hand with looking at the big picture, and in reality, you can’t have one without the other. There are a myriad of reasons as to WHY you should do whats right, but truth be told, the best reason is simply for the well being of others.

Some may argue that this sounds a bit unrealistic, after all, I did say that whole purpose of looking at the big picture was for YOU to live a happier and stress free life. So what’s with this look out for others business you might ask? Please read on so that you can learn!

You know that good feeling when you’ve accomplished something? You’ve been working on a major project, or task around the house, put a lot of effort into it, and now its DONE! We all know this feeling - the feeling of achievement and success. Now think if you felt that on a daily basis, wouldn’t that be something!

That’s where doing the right thing comes into play. You don’t have to help cure cancer, or stop world hunger, or even save a species from extinction (it would be nice though lol), but something as small as helping someone that’s lost find their way, or helping that old lady across the street (very 70’s I know), can give you that warm fuzzy feeling inside to make a gloomy day that much brighter.

Hey guys!! I’m sure many of you guys are aware of, and use the service called Twitter. As per Wikipedia’s definition, Twitter is a free social networking and microblogging service, that allows its users to send and read other users’ updates (otherwise known as tweets), which are text-based posts of up to 140 characters in length.

One of the most useful features that I can figure out about this service, is that blog owners can communicate with their readers through text messaging. This is great for those that update frequently, and want input from their readers on the go.

I first heard about this service from JohnChow.com, as he is an avid user of the tweet, and regularly posts his users responses in his blog posts. Personally, I am not a fan of this service simply because I wouldn’t want to be on the receiving end of constant text messages for blog updates, but I do understand the value of the service and it is indeed an interesting concept.

John recently wrote about “Become a Magpie.” This magpie service is, in a nutshell, a new ad network that is tailored to the twitter tweet. Very simply put, they pay you to send sponsored ads to your twitter followers.

So I was reading into other ways to drive traffic to my blog, and came across the idea to use services like Digg.com and stumbleupon to do it.

I came across an article by SEO Black Hat - seems like he’s got some great information!! This article very simple details 10 seemingly simple ways to make the digg front page. I thought, might as well read it and give it a shot!! I suggest you read through it yourself, as some of the ideas are pretty out there, and the article is down right hilarious. Bravo on the creativity. Anyways, here’s my go at trying to make page number one of digg!!!

Recently, the government passed new legislation regarding the banning of using any types of mobile devices while driving, including but not limited to cell phones, GPS, and MP3 players. As most of us know, cell phones have become part of the main stream lifestyle of a significant portion of the population, and for some of these people, this will be a hard habit to kick. At first, this might seem like an annoyance, or an encroachment of our rights and freedoms, but there is a flip side to this.

Driving while talking on a cell phone takes your attention away from the task at hand: driving safely. Studies have proven that accidents are far more likely to happen while driving while talking on a cell phone, than when your attention is focused on the road ahead. This may seem obvious to some, but others feel that they are perfectly capable of multi-tasking. Regardless of what these people think, the facts don’t lie, and I personally think its a great idea.

The use of hands free devices such as headsets will still be permitted, as it seems that the majority of the time, accidents result from people texting or fumbling with their phones. When the law will be officially enforced is not yet clear, but I’m not taking any chances, and putting the cell phone down while I’m behind the wheel.

Apparently even all those computers are still no match for a lack of driving skills!! Not sure what asian country this is in, but the GTR took a serious beating from the looks of it!!
